Albert Midlane

Albert Midlane was an English hymn writer associated with the Plymouth Brethren movement whose hymns became widely used in evangelical worship. Born in Newport on the Isle of Wight, he worked as a merchant while also writing hymns for church gatherings and Sunday schools. Midlane began writing hymns during his youth and eventually produced hundreds of texts throughout his lifetime. His hymns often emphasized personal faith in Christ, the assurance of salvation, and the believer relationship with the Savior. Among his best known hymns are Revive Thy Work O Lord and There Is a Redeemer. Midlane work was included in many evangelical hymn collections and became especially popular in Brethren assemblies and mission meetings. His writing reflects the devotional simplicity and strong biblical focus characteristic of the Plymouth Brethren tradition.
