Ambrose of Milan

Ambrose of Milan was a fourth century bishop, theologian, and one of the most influential hymn writers of the early church. He helped shape Western Christian hymnody through Latin hymns that combined doctrinal clarity with poetic simplicity. His morning hymn Splendor paternae gloriae forms the basis for O Splendor of God's Glory Bright.
