Bob McGee

Bob McGee is an American pastor and songwriter whose published biographical record is limited. A federal appellate decision identifies him as an associate pastor at The King's Temple Church in Seattle, Washington, in 1976. Several hymnals index his birth year as 1944, although some later collections give 1949; reliable sources reviewed do not establish his education, ordination, denominational affiliation, or later appointments. Those details should therefore remain unasserted unless stronger documentation emerges.

McGee is best known as the author and composer of a short Scripture-centered worship chorus written in 1976. The work moved from local church use into numerous denominational hymnals and translated editions, making him a representative contributor to the concise praise-chorus repertory that entered print hymnody in the late twentieth century. Court records later documented eyewitness evidence of his independent composition when the melody became the subject of a copyright claim; the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit affirmed judgment for McGee and the song's assignees in 2002.
