Carl Frederick Schalk

Carl Frederick Schalk was an American Lutheran composer, church musician, and educator who taught for many years at Concordia University Chicago. He composed numerous hymn tunes and sacred works that enriched twentieth century Lutheran worship. His collaboration with Jaroslav Jan Vajda produced several influential modern hymns including Now the Silence.
