Carl P Daw Junior is an American Episcopal priest, hymn writer, and scholar whose work has contributed significantly to contemporary Anglican hymnody. Born in Louisville Kentucky, he studied English literature before pursuing theological education. Daw served in parish ministry and later became executive director of the Hymn Society in the United States and Canada. He has written numerous hymn texts included in modern hymnals and widely sung in Anglican and ecumenical worship settings. His hymns often draw deeply from biblical language and historical Christian theology. In addition to writing hymns he has contributed to hymnological scholarship and editorial work.
