Christian Keimann

Christian Keimann was a German Lutheran teacher and hymn writer whose work contributed to the development of seventeenth century Lutheran congregational song. Born in Bohemia, he later moved to Silesia where he worked as a teacher and school rector. Keimann wrote several hymns for use in school worship and church services. His texts were included in Lutheran hymn collections and became widely used in Protestant congregations. One of his best known hymns is Praise God the Lord Ye Sons of Men which celebrates the grace of God and calls believers to joyful praise. Keimann hymns reflected the close relationship between education, church life, and hymn singing in Lutheran communities. His contributions helped support the strong musical and devotional tradition of Lutheran worship during the seventeenth century.
