David Rutherford McGuire

David Rutherford McGuire was a Canadian Anglican priest whose revised stanzas of Jesus Loves Me were prepared for The Hymn Book of 1971, a joint hymnal of the Anglican Church of Canada and the United Church of Canada. Later hymnals, including The United Methodist Hymnal, printed McGuire’s stanzas in place of some of Anna Bartlett Warner’s original verses. His contribution should be distinguished from Warner’s original public-domain text and Bradbury’s public-domain refrain and tune.
