Earl Brinley Marlatt

Earl Brinley Marlatt was an American Methodist minister, educator, poet, and hymn writer who served as a professor of religion and literature at Boston University. He wrote several hymns and devotional texts that reflected themes of Christian discipleship and commitment. Marlatt's hymn Are Ye Able Said the Master was composed for a student missionary conference and quickly became a well known hymn of dedication. His work often connected poetic expression with the ethical demands of Christian faith.
