Elwood Haines Stokes

Elwood Haines Stokes was an American Methodist Episcopal minister, editor, revival leader, and hymn writer. He became the first president of the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association in 1869 and remained closely identified with its ministry until his death. His hymns reflect nineteenth-century Methodist and Holiness emphases on prayer, consecration, spiritual renewal, and the work of the Holy Spirit. ([HathiTrust][6])
