Georg Weissel

Georg Weissel was a German Lutheran pastor and hymn writer during the early seventeenth century. He served as pastor of the Altrossgart church in Konigsberg and composed several hymns influenced by Lutheran devotional theology. His hymn Macht hoch die Tur became one of the most beloved Advent hymns in the German church.
