George Kirbye

George Kirbye was an English composer and musician active in the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. Hymnary attributes the tune WINCHESTER OLD to him and describes it as presumably arranged from a melody in Christopher Tye's Acts of the Apostles. The tune was published in Thomas Este's The Whole Book of Psalmes in 1592.
