Gregory the Great

Gregory the Great served as Bishop of Rome from 590 to 604 and is one of the most influential figures in early Western Christianity. Known for pastoral leadership, theological writing, and liturgical development, he contributed significantly to the shaping of medieval worship. Several early Latin hymns are traditionally attributed to him, though scholars debate the precise authorship of some texts.
