James Grindlay Small

James Grindlay Small was a Scottish minister and hymn writer born in Edinburgh. He studied at the University of Edinburgh, studied divinity under Thomas Chalmers, and joined the Free Church of Scotland in 1843. Hymnological sources identify 'I've Found a Friend, O Such a Friend' as his best-known hymn, published in his Psalms and Sacred Songs in 1866.
