James Waddel Alexander

James Waddel Alexander was an American Presbyterian minister, theologian, and hymn translator. His English translation of O Sacred Head, Now Wounded introduced the German Passion hymn to English speaking churches. The translation has become one of the most widely sung versions of the hymn.
