John Henry Gower

John Henry Gower was an English-born organist and composer remembered especially for hymn tunes including MEDITATION and GOWER'S LITANY. He worked as a church musician and published music for worship use in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. His tune MEDITATION became one of the notable settings for There Is a Green Hill Far Away.
