Louis Spohr

Louis Spohr was a German composer violinist and conductor whose music influenced both concert and sacred traditions. Known primarily for orchestral and chamber works he also contributed melodies that entered church music repertories. His tune SEYMOUR became associated with several Methodist hymn texts.
