Nahum Tate

Nahum Tate was an Irish-born poet and dramatist who served as the Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom. He is most significantly remembered in hymnody for co-authoring the 'New Version' of the Psalms with Nicholas Brady, which modernized the Psalter for the Church of England. His paraphrase of the Lucan nativity narrative remains one of the most enduring Christmas texts in the English language.
