Omer George Westendorf

Omer George Westendorf was an American Roman Catholic church musician, hymn writer, publisher, and liturgical leader. He founded the World Library of Sacred Music in 1950 and World Library Publications in 1957, helping shape English-language Catholic congregational song after the liturgical reforms of the Second Vatican Council. His hymn “You Satisfy the Hungry Heart,” also known as “Gift of Finest Wheat,” was written for the 1976 International Eucharistic Congress in Philadelphia and became one of the best-known modern Communion hymns.
