Peter Abelard

Peter Abelard was a medieval French philosopher, theologian, and teacher known for his influence on scholastic theology. In addition to his academic work he wrote Latin hymns for monastic worship. His poem O quanta qualia describes the joy of the heavenly Jerusalem and became the basis of this hymn.
