Scottish Psalter, 1615

The tune DUNDEE first appeared in the 1615 Scottish Psalter published at Edinburgh by Andro Hart. Hymnological sources describe it as one of the psalter's common tunes and also identify it with the alternate name FRENCH. Later harmonizations and settings, including material associated with Thomas Ravenscroft's 1621 Whole Booke of Psalmes, helped transmit the tune in English-language psalmody.
