Scottish Psalter, 1650

The 1650 Scottish Psalter, formally The Psalms of David in Metre, provided a complete English metrical psalter for Reformed worship in Scotland. Its texts were prepared through ecclesiastical and editorial processes rather than by a single named author. The version of Psalm 46 beginning 'God is our refuge and our strength' is one of its metrical paraphrases for congregational singing.
