Biography
Thomas Helmore was an English Anglican priest, choirmaster, editor, and specialist in plainsong. He served as vice-principal and precentor of St. Mark's College, Chelsea, and was also connected with the Chapel Royal. Helmore collaborated with John Mason Neale on Carols for Christmas-Tide, adapting and harmonizing melodies from Piae Cantiones for English use. His role in Good King Wenceslas belongs to the musical arrangement and editorial transmission of TEMPUS ADEST FLORIDUM rather than to authorship of the text.
