Biography
Thomas Troeger was an American Presbyterian minister, theologian, poet, and hymn writer whose texts became widely used in contemporary Christian worship. Born in Pennsylvania, he studied theology and later served both in pastoral ministry and academic teaching. Troeger taught homiletics and worship at several theological institutions including Yale Divinity School. He wrote numerous hymn texts that explore themes of creation, discipleship, justice, and the life of the church. His writing often combines poetic imagination with careful theological reflection.
