Walter Ehret

Walter Ehret was an American music educator, choral conductor, editor, arranger, and composer. He edited and arranged many choral and congregational works for schools and churches. Hymnal sources identify him as an arranger of the ISLA DEL ENCANTO setting used with From a Distant Home. The melody itself is a traditional Puerto Rican carol, so Ehret's role should be understood as arranger rather than original composer.
