Will Hays

Will Hays was an American minstrel and songwriter best known for the secular tune The Little Old Log Cabin in the Lane. The melody of The Lily of the Valley is adapted from Hays's tune, which was later arranged harmonically by Ira D. Sankey for use in gospel hymns.
