William Charles Fry was an English evangelist and hymn writer associated with nineteenth century revival movements. Born in England, he became involved in evangelistic ministry and preaching. Fry wrote several gospel hymn texts that reflected themes of conversion, repentance, and Christian devotion. His most widely known hymn text is O Rejoice in the Lord, often known by the opening line O Rejoice in the Lord He Makes No Mistake. The hymn later appeared in gospel song collections used in revival meetings and evangelical church services. Fry work reflects the style of personal testimony and encouragement characteristic of nineteenth century gospel hymn traditions.
